These are but a few examples of how the history and the legacy of Robert E. Lee, (among other heroes), have been slowly removed from society.

A West Point commandant, and the legendary general of the Confederate Army during the American Civil War, Lee has been praised for his tactical brilliance (History).  President Theodore Roosevelt later praised him for his “extraordinary skill as a General, his dauntless courage and high leadership,” according to Smithsonian.com.

Lee was a highly revered figure, however not everyone sees it in such a light.  Historians continue to argue over Lee’s official stance on slavery, and this has caused the controversy over whether he should be honoured or not.  This is why, so many of the monuments and memorials that have been placed in his recognition have been removed or displaced over the past few years.

At Heritage Patriart, we wish to conserve his memory, and to allow his part in history to live on.  While we may not be able to replace the beautiful statues that have been removed, we can offer a painting of the glorious General Robert E Lee atop his pedestal, as he was always meant to be.
